Grumpy of Women Live 2 'Chin Up Britain'

It has been a busy week for me apart from work.

I went to see Grumpy Old Women (GOW) at the Assembly rooms on Wednesday with some friends and it was brilliant – such a tonic if your feeling a little sad as you have too laugh. Like the show alluded to I can see myself becoming a GOW slowly so I must strive to keep it at bay. It was truly a fantastic show http://www.grumpyoldwomenlive.com/ so many laughs and such brilliant cast. I would certainly recommend the show to all my fellow bloggers

Thursday I met a friend Pauline for dinner, we met a Morley Hayes. We don’t see each other that often now although we were great friends when the children were little & saw each other loads then. We spent a rather pleasant evening together catching up and saying we should meet up more regularly.

Yesterday Joe and I took our grandchildren to Twycross Zoo after they slept over and whilst they sleep all night they do like an early start!!! We were up with the lark and on our way by 10am. We had an action packed day but vowed to come home around 2pm but we were having such fun we left later :) We all came home shattered. But no layzing in the lounge and bed early for us. We were off out again to see Carol and Mark for a meal around 7 and to talk about our looming trip to Southern France. Which we are all looking forward to. What will be interesting is that we are going with Ryan Air and only taking 10kg hand luggage with us!!! I’ve been advised to wear ALL my heaviest clothing so I think I will look even larger as I will be wearing all my clothes that I’m likely to need for the week all at the same time, so I can make the most of my luggage allowance lol !!! Luckily the house we have rented has a washing machine .

Today I’m off to Tracey’s later for the take and bake sorry make which I am really looking forward to. I will post my makes latter this week.

I hope you all have a great weekend

Its arrived at last!!!!

I’ve been waiting patiently since the beginning of October for my prize from SU when I entered a blog hop through Jenny’s blog http://www.jennyscreations.blogspot.com/ sponsored by SU.  The goodies arrived this morning at 730 I only had 5 minutes to look at it as I needed to set off for work but it looks brilliant.  I can’t believe how much has been sent.

I’m at home after a very busy day at work and thought In would photo graph all my goodies and post it on the blog for all to see.

Hope you all had a great day today and may see some of you at Tracey’s on Saturday

Another birth card for a baby boy

IMG_4473

This was one of my creation made last week using a mixture of SU and other products the main colour other than white was bashful blue.

I’ve had a very quiet weekend visiting Sam & Ashley yesterday and then starting a pocket scrap book for Emily from 0-6weeks I did one for Cameron after he was born but I did that within a few weeks where as this has been pending for the last year!! lol (I will post pics of mini scrap book pages later this week). although it is not yet completed!! Family are coming for tea tonight & Joe has tried to electricute himself by cutting through the electric cable with the hedge trimmers!!

Friday evening Joe & I went out with friends to the Queens Head at Ockbrook for a catch up as we’d not seen them for a while. Not been for a meal their for ages but can thoroughly recommend the meal was lovely although not cheap.

I’m looking forward to next Saturday’s ‘take and bake’ sorry ‘make and take’ at Tracey's – this should make the week go by quick. I’m also off to the Assembly rooms to see ‘Grumpy of Women’ - should be good and I will be able to empathise with them!!! Going to the theatre Wednesday as fitted in well as there is no French evening class that night as it is half term.

Well hope you all have a good week. I look forward to browsing peoples creations on their blogs during the week

Birthday card

IMG_4455

I just fell in love with this Posie DCWV paper & I’ve had it my cupboard for ages possibly a year.  It was one of the first DCWV  12 x12 scrapbook papers  that I ever bought and I have been waiting for a project to use it on.  I thought it was just right for Emily’s 1st birthday card.

25 years service in the NHS and my long service badge

It was quite a surprise to me that when I arrive back form my holidays in September there was a letter waiting for me inviting me to attend a ceremony to receive my Long Service  badge for 25 years service in the NHS.
IMG_4341
I was defiantly going to attend as I feel I deserved it along with everyone else who received their 25, 30 or 35 year badge.   NHS employees rarely get recognition of their contribution to the Health Care Service.  My bro & sister-in-law came along to the ceremony as they both were up from Portsmouth at the time.

Weekend

I had another busy weekend although I didn’t manage to get into the loft to do more de cluttering.  Saturday I  put the back seats down in the car and fill the back up with the rubbish and take it to the tip on Saturday and Matt came to help me as Joe is still not well – trying to get him to visit the Dr’s today but he is very resistant to medics.  The visit to the tip was followed by a couple of cups of coffee at Matt and Nicola’s house and playing with Cameron and Emily

I then took a similar amount to the Scope Charity shop at Allenton and nipped into Tracey’s for a coffee.  My next stop was Iceland at Alvaston.

IMG_4425
Sunday I went to the Midland Railway Centre with the family.  Cameron who is Thomas mad had a brilliant time and was very exited to see so many trains and be able to have a train ride on Thomas.  Oswald was great as he talked to the children and Cameron  was able to scratch  his chin & itch his noes but he needed the reassurance of his Mum.

IMG_4445

It was a truly wonderful weekend.  I also managed to make 6 sample wedding invitations for Samantha to look at to see which she and Ash like the best.  Then it will be production on a mass scale!!

Hope all that read my blog have a great week. Off to work now

French collection part 2

L’Abbeye de Manoir at Matragny in Normandy about 8km from Bayeux.  Run by an elder couple,  in the morning I would wander over to reception to be greeted by Maurice with and he would present me with my warm baguette & croissants.  One morning in the bag containing my croissants were 2 eggs he’d collected that morning from his hens.

There we visited Grandcamp Maisy the port and the gun battery, we also had a lovely lunch in a bar in the village.

Our ‘rig’ at L’Abbeye de Manoir in the very distance I can be seen having an afternoon nap :)

the coast at Grand Camp Maisy has also has the highest tides for a while and all the roads which lead to the sea front has barriers in front off them to keep the sea back – this is the aftermath – we arrived just a bit too late to actually see the sea covering the promenade road – but as you can see the sea was certainly rough!!!

Last but not least the bar where we have a beautiful lunch Joe had the chicken but I have ‘colin’ (Hake) in a very tasty cream sauce with sliced potatoes it was delicious & a boulee of cidre to wash it down!!!!!!

Last weekends crafting – the start of my Christmas Collection

IMG_4398

Now most crafters have already been making their Christmas cards for months not me!!  I usually leave them to the last minute.  So this is good for me.  I rather like the effect of decoupage but hate the intricate cutting out it involves – so I cheat and but the die cut stuff.

IMG_4402

I was out shopping with my sister in law a couple of weeks ago and saw these black white & grey effect ones and thought these are for me.  I love the effect.  My photo’s of them aren’t so good I afraid.  But hey ho party on!!!!!

IMG_4391

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.  I may b e off to Butterly Steam Trains this afternoon with Cameron and Emily my Grandchildren & their parents

‘Cards’ with difference.

IMG_4389

These cards were just a couple that I made during my busy weekend when I was de cluttering.  The one above was made for Jonathan’s 16th birthday and the playing cards add up to his age!! :)

IMG_4393

This one I made because I could!!

Yesterday I visited my friend Sue at Nuneaton as she was up from Devon visiting her Mum so that Glenn could lay some laminate flooring.  It was lovely to see her & Glenn as because of the distance we only see each other now and again.  Sue and I first me in 1975 when we started our SRN training at RNH Plymouth.

I have another busy weekend ahead taking rubbish to the local tip and more de cluttering in the loft!!

Joe has been ill all week with a severe cold which shows no sign of abating

Beetle mania

IMG_4371

This is my initial attempts at colouring with pencils and Sansador.  I made a card for Sam’s fiancĂ©, Ash who is mad about Split screen VW camper van’s which this is!!!

Ash loved the card – so that made me feel really good.  As life just recently has been a little difficult for me and my family over the last few months.

Although I think I might need to make a bit more shading according to a crafty friend.

What do you think!!

IMG_4370

This one was my first attempt.

A big thank you to Karen who let me use her Little Claire’s stamp.

thank you for stopping by to look at my blog please leave a comment

Busy Weekend

I needed to de clutter especially from the loft as since we moved into our house in 1982 we have used the loft for the items ‘well we might need in the future’.  Both Joe and I are great hoarders.  So Saturday I was in the loft de cluttering.  We now have a van load to take to the charity shop!!  Unfortunately it is going to take me several Saturdays to completely de clutter the loft!!  :)
IMG_4395
IMG_4396

Yesterday morning I set about my wardrobe and now have 3 black bin liners full of clothes shoes etc to also take to the Charity shop!!!

After that Joe and I set about the garden.  Firstly I went into the greenhouse and came out with 4 black bin liners full of rubbish to take to the tip.
Joe than did some hedging whilst I manned the shredder.  We managed to fill out 2 brown bins with shredded treed & bushes.  Unfortunately we still have loads to go, as our garden is quite large!!!!

Despite the busy weekend Joe and I also pulled in a 16th birthday party Saturday night and I made 3 cards which I will post later
I am now exhausted!!!!

Return to Angleterre!!!

Hello bloggers
It a long time since I have posted as I’ve been on holiday to France :)
I have now returned from my holiday  where we had plenty of sun, travel, lovely food and lots of culture.
We started of in Southern Brittany at Chateau du Duffey not far from St Nazaire where we stayed for 9 nights.  We then moved up to a site beside the River Selune at Pontabault for 2 nights.  Where we had a fantastic day at Mont St Michel.  Joe and I  climbed to the top.  The books we had read said that the walk to the top was very arduous but it was fine and the views from the top where superb.   During our visit we had to stop at a couple of cafe’s for refreshment.   Tracey thinks Joe and I visit cafe/bars for a drink every day :) Not true every other day!!!  lol  I further developed a real liking for Normandy and Brittany French cider whilst away and loved drinking it from a traditional ‘boulee’ –  a ceramic bowl and  a really cool way to drink cider.  We also drive the coastal route around Mont St Michel bay and the views were breath taking.

Above are some picture taken on Mont St Michel -  looking down from the top was really ‘scarry’ :)
