Joe and I went to the Zoo recently with our granddaughter Emily and boy it was hot – well it was for me!!! . But we had a lovely day and she enjoyed it so much. We had taken a picnic and were able to sit on the grass as it was so nice. Joe has a habit of wandering off which Emily wasn’t keen on and she ‘rounded’ him up each time he wandered off so we kept together.
I was sad to find that just 2 weeks earlier the elephant that was born in 2009 has died only 2 weeks previously as we’d seen him on numerous occasions.
At the end of the day she wanted to take a ride of the train and as it was a BH there was a long queue – so Joe headed off the the shade of a cafe for a cup of tea as we had to stand out in the sun!!! We had a lovely ride and Emily enjoyed it and that was the main aim of the day – but we enjoyed it too.

We came home with yearly passes too!!!
Well it was a too good an opportunity to miss & to top it all Joe gets concession rate so what a bargain. Joe has used it already!!!

Lovely photographs Lesley. I was devastated when I heard the baby elephant had died!
I took a very similar photograph of the turtles last time I was there and it was scorching hot then :o)
