Wednesday Wanderings

Whilst on a walk around the fields at Poplar Farm (our recent holiday destination) with Emily and Cameron we came across some black berries growing in the hedge row so it was a wonderful opportunity to take them blackberry picking.  I promised we would make a blackberry & apple crumble which we did.  Whilst picking blackberries Cameron put his in the bowl but Emily put some in but ate a few too!!!

As a child my grandparents used to take me blackberrying and I loved it to.  My mum used to make jam but my grandmother used to make jelly as the pips and her dentures didn’t mix!! lol   I can remember going to her house one day after one of our trips to see a muslin suspended between 2 chairs, a large bowl underneath it & the ‘jam’ being strained to remove the pips before she boiled it and put it in jars.

We were lucky enough to do this on 2 occasions as the blackberries were ripening fast.   On the second occasion Helen (the owner) invited us to go into the orchard to pick some windfall apples and plums from the tree.  Both of them loved it & we collected loads.

Good morning Lesley. Sounds like you were in heaven. My daughter goes of walking with her feller each weekend and they pick lbs and lbs of wild bilberries, blackberries, and redcurrants then makes jams and chutneys out of them!
Very pretty card :o)
Had a wonderful crafting day at Viv's yesterday and a bit of retail therapy too :o)
